Nurturing young learners through imagination, exploration and play.

For more than two decades Kuei Luck has provided supportive, child-focused care for families. In 2013 we furthered our commitment to young learners with the addition of a Reggio-Emilio inspired early childhood center.

Kuei Luck Early Childhood Center is a Reggio inspired, Mandarin Immersion Nursery & Preschool in New York City. We believe that early learning experiences have a profound impact on a child’s social, emotional, and intellectual development. Our student-led immersive language model is rooted in exploration, experimentation, and play. By introducing students to open ended experiences early, we help create a foundation for complex problem solving for the rest of their lives. Our students are encouraged to explore learning through art, music, play, and nature. Our approach encourages young learners to deepen their knowledge of subjects they are most curious about.

The Reggio-Emilia Approach

Named after the Italian town where a community developed an early childhood education program with children at the center, the Reggio Approach provides an alternative to traditional early child education by allowing a child’s natural curiosity to drive the learning. We believe that self-directed learning prepares children for the future by enhancing cognitive development and fostering social and emotional intelligence. By developing greater self expression, our young learners build confidence and tools for solving complex problems in a multicultural environment.

Mandarin Immersion for Global Learners

Through our Reggio approach to language immersion, young learners lead their own language learning through storytelling, art, dance, and play. Each classroom has an English-speaking teacher and a Mandarin speaking teacher to support children as they engage naturally with both languages. As one of the fastest growing languages with 100 million students worldwide, Mandarin gives young learners the opportunity to become global citizens with the skills to succeed in an interconnected world. Studies suggest that learning a second language in a child’s formative years correlates to a higher performance in academics as well as emotional development and problem solving skills.

A special note about COVID-19

COVID-19 has changed the way that students learn and live. We are dedicated to creating a safe and healthy environment while keeping schools open so students have a place to thrive and learn. With the guidance of public health specialists, we have implemented safety measures such as electrostatic sprayer to camera-enabled infrared temperature checks at our front entrance. We recognize the disruptions this virus has caused to our community and are committed to providing timely communication as we take measures to support the best interest of our students and families.

Testimonials

  • "Their child-centric philosophy is age-appropriate and fun. Our child particularly loves the activity room, and looks forward to the aftercare program every day as well (Pre-K). We love that it's a small school in a new facility."

    Sara (mom to Jonah)

  • "As a working parent, one of the biggest stressors is finding the right childcare situation.  Although one can never find something perfect, we have been so thankful to have found Kuei Luck!  Both of our children have attended since the age of 13 months and we have zero regrets.  Even though they are so different in their personalities, the environment at Kuei luck celebrates the uniqueness of each child.  My children have thrived in their creativity and emotional intelligence.  The Reggio style allows them to gravitate towards their interests in a structured way, and I appreciate that they focus on learning through play and activities."

Agnes (mom to Aliya & Sophia)

  • "Kuei Luck has been an amazing place & community to send our 1 year old daughter to. Given that this was her first time being in care of someone full time outside of her own parents, we were naturally anxious in the beginning, not knowing how she would adjust. Within a couple of weeks, we can tell that our daughter was learning so much and thriving at Kuei Luck (so many smiles!), all thanks to their wonderful teachers and staff. We get daily updates with pictures of our daughter playing, smiling, and learning new things. As working parents, we are eternally grateful for Kuei Luck for truly going above and beyond to care for our daughter."

    Stella (mom to Karis)
